I’ve been accompanying Manuel on his harrowing journey on death row for ten years and am firmly convinced of his innocence. He’s been occupying a death cell for 15 years. At last, because of stalwart, courageous, unrelenting work of defense lawyer, Nick Trenticosta, and investigator, Susanna Herrera, and Manuel’s own efforts to obtain FBI records, we may have the right stuff to show that Manuel is, in fact, innocent of hiring a man to kill his ex-wife.

I have just been reading your book Death of Innocents and I found it very disturbing. To think that the best Judicial system in the world (supposedly) could simply ignore a persons constitutional right to a fair trial is mind-boggling. As for the Prosecutors using peoples lives to gain Brownie points to further thier careers makes me physically sick. I believe that Jesus Christ’s message is being twisted to justify these peoples actions.
I hope and pray that Manuel’s hearing goe’s well and that another human being is not unnecessarily taken from this life.

What is happening with Manuel Ortiz? It is Feb. 27 today. I am eager to know what has happened. Is it too soon?
My prayers are with you and Manuel. What is the status on the case as of now?
It is now March 18. Is there any news? If not when can we expect some? I will write him to express support. Also why limit your Mobilization Network to Catholics. Many others could benefit from this.
Also have you asked President Obama for an end to the Federal Death Penalty. Congress may want it but he can stop it at least for the period he is President. Hopefully in 8 years (I have confidence in him) public opinion, Congress and the Supreme Court can be changed.
