  1. Nigel Baldwin says:

In the event that Ohio should attempt another state sanctioned homicide, I’ll pray for the relatives of the child Broom killed, for those whose noisome task it will be to carry out this sentence – and for Romell Broom himself.

As for “Justice” Scalia, on top of his judgement that actual innocence is no bar to execution, what a disgraceful thing to say, for a man in his position.

  2. Dear Sister Helen, we’re on the eve of staging the acclaimed opera based on your story with a death row inmate. I cant begin to describe to you – how relevant this is in our beautiful country South Africa. It speaks so fervently to the Truth & Reconciliation Commission which was spearheaded by the Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu – a cause many South Africans hold in high esteem (but as you can imagine does not completely iradicate the ills of the past apartheid government) Soon a Peace Centre (http://www.tutufoundation-usa.org/) will be established in South Africa’s mother city Cape Town and it is our hope that this be a constant reminder of the power of forgiveness, peace and hope. So it is fitting to be staging this opera in South Africa today. It would be truly amazing (not to mention) a huge blessing to have you with us in Cape Town South Africa for the launch of this opera on Oct 16, 2009. (oh my goodness i hear you say) but if is meant to be – it will (with God’s help). I would like to invite you to the premiere evening of Dead Man Walking in CT, South Africa. perhaps you’d like to contact me on my email address to discuss the possibility further? Blessings & Warm Regards, Lesley Liddle
