I received this email from Misty in Tacoma, Washington:

Dear Sister Prejean,

My name’s Misty and i have been friends with Joseph Ray Ries, a Texas death row inmate at the Polunsky Unit. I was wondering if you could pray for him. I am worried that his death will be painful and I hope it won’t and I also hope you will pray to help heal me from his loss. Thanks alot.

I want you to know I am praying for you, Misty, for Joseph Ray Ries, for his family, and for the Ratliffs (the victim’s family).

Holding a rosary is a physical act..you touch and hold the small smooth beads awhile then let go
“Don’t cling to me ” Jesus had said to Mary Magdalene. the great secret: to hold on ,, let go. Nothing solid. Everything moves except love ..hold on to love. Do what love requires..

Hi, Sister Prejean, did you make the statement,”I refuse to believe the God of Jesus has less mercy than me.” I so agree with this statement and believe God is a God of mercy and His compassions fail not. I’ve ministered in Prisons for many years and I’ve witnessed God’s grace turn the hardest of hearts around for good, Including mine some 20 years ago. If love doesn’t work than how could hate possible work. May oceans of love be upon you sister, you’re a champion of grace, remeber grace is not what Christ does but rather who He is.
