Woke up this morning with my mind set on freedom

Woke up this morning with my mind set on freedom

Woke up this morning with my mind set on freedom

Hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah.

I’m walking and talking with my mind set on freedom

I’m walking and talking with my mind set on freedom

I’m walking and talking with my mind set on freedom

Hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah.

Walk, walk, walk, walk…

Talk, talk, talk, talk…

Ain’t no harm to keep your mind set on freedom

Oh, there ain’t no harm to keep your mind set on freedom

There ain’t no harm to keep your mind set on freedom

Hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah.

Why this song?

Another old gospel song that was adopted and adapted by the Civil Rights Movement. Like so many protest songs, there are many versions and new verses might spring up on the spot. The protest version was created by Reverend Osby from his cell in the Hinds County jail during the freedom rides.
